A hopeful disaster. The country seems to be coming apart at the seams, buffered only by the election of Donald Trump last November as he tries to stem the tide of general lawlessness throughout the nation. Too much has been allowed to go on for too long. The rise of cashless bail, defund the police, Antifa, transitioning children, and so much more. The US has been in a state of absolute moral (and physical) decay for the better part of the last five years, and I have to say until the last week I didn’t see any way to really get it back on it’s feet.
So much has happened to start swinging the pendulum – I could tell tales of my neighborhood, under siege of robberies and home invasions for the last year thanks to failed leftist policies enacted under George Gascon and Karen Bass. Over 101 home invasions in just my neighborhood since January 2024. The community came together and elected an all new neighborhood council to get the ship righted. A streetlight repair still takes 6 months from reporting date. The city is bankrupt, but somehow can continue to platform Karen’s insane policies and cash handouts. Never was a name more apropos for someone.
I don’t think it would be a stretch to say that she will surely be replaced in the next election due solely to incompetence and the LA fires from this last January. The resounding defeat of Gascon last November already showed where the tide was headed. My hopes were not as high for a gubernatorial candidate but now, I think all bets are off.
As much as things were slowly creeping back to center from extreme left the pace was slow; and then came Wednesday at Utah Valley and the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I had been contemplating the midterm elections and thinking that people had gotten lazy in the wake of Trump getting elected. As if it was good enough and nothing more had to be done to keep the train rolling. After Charlie’s murder I have seen an absolute earth shaking movement now starting to boil. Nothing violent – not like that, but resolve has been hardened. It was a shot heard round the world. Everyone collectively said enough and started standing, speaking, motivating. Myself included, I instantly jumped into action designing a new website, resolving to launch a media company, joining and posting on Rumble discussing my conservative beliefs and viewpoints for the first time ever as my actual self. Things I never thought I would ever do.

And I am not the only one. It is an energy that has overtaken the country. For every ghoul that is celebrating Charlie’s death there are 10 other’s who are starting TPUSA chapters, will now be attending church on Sunday, will run for local election, and so much more. Something has shifted and it is seismic. The center and right is no longer content to sit around and be kicked around, always taking the high road and stiff upper lip mentality. They are ready to punch back- peacefully. No violence, no retribution, no revenge, and I hope to not ever see these things because that sort of political violence accomplishes nothing. I’m cautiously optimistic as I write this because although it has not happened I know it is possible. I am not naive, I know the right has an unpleasant fringe just as the left does.
All of these things give me hope in the midst of the disaster. I hope that locally we continue to elect better officials to run our city, and hopefully our state as well. I hope that the scourges of Reddit, Discord, Bluesky can be reigned in and that these hurtful ideologies can be purged from the minds of our youth. I hope that other cities around the country can experience a renaissance and renovation. Those like Charlotte, where Iryna Zarutska was brutally murdered by a 14 time repeat offender, and like Oakland, Chicago, and New York.
I worry for New York City. They seem determined to elect a socialist mayor in Zohran Mamdani. I would urge anyone there to come to LA and see how having a socialist/communist (same shit) mayor has worked out here. I am just thankful that we seem to be on the other side of it now and will hopefully elect someone far more qualified and intelligent to run our city. Cutting the fire department budget when fires are one of the main natural disasters has to be one of the most idiotic things I’ve ever seen. I digress. New York seems on the verge of epic collapse. Of course I hope I’m wrong, I don’t want to see any US cities in disrepair but sometimes people just have to find out the hard way. Tough love and hard lessons. I wish them all the best but I certainly will not be visiting if his election comes to pass.
I do believe we are facing a huge evil. Over 40k people have been catalogued celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk. That’s no small number. Progressivism and the “woke mind virus” (I am NO fan of Elon Musk) must be destroyed. These movements only serve as not so clever covers to usher in communism, which is an ideology that should have been dead and buried a century ago but somehow continues to fester in the youth as they dream of utopias and impossible things. My father is a Cuban exile, I don’t think I need to explain much more about my feelings on this.
So as some places may rise again and some may fall anew, in the end I have hope because I believe in the good people of the US and of the world that they will not let evil prosper. I have to have that hope and faith because if I don’t and if others don’t then we have already lost and we cannot, will not, lose this battle.
I often think people could use a reminder that we live on a tiny planet in a tiny part of the universe, just for some perspective. Every human that has ever lived in all of history did so here, and never left. A mote of dust floating in a sunbeam.
